Candid's directors come from a wide variety of backgrounds including health and safety, construction, training, software development and telecommunications, offering a unique blend of experience. It is this blend which contributed to identification of key issues which form the cornerstone upon which the Candid concept is based.

Candid was developed in response to the need for improved record management, readily verifiable proof of skills and ease of access for contractors and workers when entering and leaving sites. The Directors have chosen to channel the Candid system along a centrally managed database. By making this database accessible to all the movement of personnel between sites and workplaces is now simplified through the highly recognisable Candid card and its interface with the Candid system.

Furthermore, from our research, it became apparent that most sites still employ a manual sign-in procedure and verification of suitability for execution of tasks. This presents a number of key problems.

  • Limitations of data availability.
  • Cumbersome entry procedures.
  • Personnel involved in operations they may not be competent to undertake.

Candid personnel tasked themselves with offering an alternative computerised system to provide information on site personnel and contractors with particular focus on their training accreditations. The system can also be enhanced to address issues such as electronic entry and emergency control.
